Hospitality / Private Dining Case Study

First Deployment: Hardware Validation at the HYP Club

CPIsight’s inaugural installation at the Harvard-Yale-Princeton Club of Pittsburgh proved the plate return station hardware works in a live dining environment — non-disruptive, adaptable, and ready for hospitality.

Case Studies/HYP Club — First Deployment
The Problem

The challenge

Before CPIsight could scale, the hardware needed to prove itself in a real dining space — not a lab. The HYP Club provided that opportunity.

Hardware had to work in the real world

A system that performs in a controlled environment does not automatically perform in a live dining room with variable lighting, guest traffic, and operational constraints. Field validation was essential.

Form factor had to be adaptable

The Seneca Valley installation used a wall-mount configuration. The HYP Club required a freestanding plate return station — a meaningfully different physical setup that had to work just as reliably.

Zero disruption to guests

A private dining club cannot tolerate visible technology friction. The system needed to integrate without affecting the guest experience or requiring staff involvement.

How It Works

The solution

CPI deployed a freestanding plate return station at the HYP Club — the first installation outside of a K-12 environment — to validate hardware performance and form factor flexibility.

01

Freestanding station deployment

Unlike the wall-mount configuration at Seneca Valley, the HYP Club required a freestanding plate return station. CPI adapted the hardware to fit the space without compromising capture quality.

02

Live environment testing

The system ran in an active dining environment — real guest traffic, real tray returns, real operational conditions — confirming that performance carries over to hospitality settings.

03

Operational non-disruption confirmed

Staff and guests interacted with the system as they would any standard plate return station. No training, no process changes, no visible technology overhead.

Results

What we proved

The HYP Club deployment was a proof of concept — focused on hardware validation, not data collection at scale. The results were qualitative, and they were clear.

The HYP Club showed us that the same core hardware can serve a private dining club as naturally as a school cafeteria. That flexibility is a core part of what makes CPIsight deployable everywhere.
